The Rione "Sassi", which is made up of an overturned metropolis that penetrates its belly and a large number of caverns cut out of the rock, is what makes Matera special and distinctive.
Matera's Sassi are a World Heritage Site according to UNESCO since 1993, a heritage considered the expression of an ancient life from the protohistoric civilizations of the Bronze Age to monastic communities.
The hotel is structured into 18 caves and a common area in an ancient rock church.
The whole complex is located in the oldest part of the Sassi, the Civita, overlooking the Gravina stream, in front of the dramatic scenery of the Murgia Park and its churches Rupestri.
