the most common doubts that many travellers find themselves asking on the Google search bar.
  • How far in advance should I book a trip?

It is well known that flight companies become unpredictable when it comes to prices and offers. For domestic flights, it would be ideal to book a couple of months before the date of travel, but for international flights, especially if you decide to leave during the most popular periods, such as holidays or specific events, we recommend booking well in advance - say four to five months in advance. To avoid overpaying, remember to remain as flexible as possible on dates and keep in mind that the best days are Tuesdays or Wednesdays, and the worst are Fridays and Sundays (both in terms of price and number of people).

  • What are the best apps for travelling?

One of the best apps to use as a map is definitely CityMapper. With the possibility to change the city based on where you are, you can use it both in your own city and when travelling. It is very useful to search for the best route, it shows you the means of transport and their fastest combination, the timing (you can even select what time you want to leave or what time you want to arrive - in these cases it will even tell you what time you should leave from home), and it also gives you information on rented vehicles, such as bicycles, cars and scooters.

Other key apps are FlightRadar24 to check if our flight will be on time (you can track flights prior to the one we are waiting for) and LoungeBuddy which allows us to search for lounges in the airport and tells us how and if we can access them.

  • Is the all-inclusive option really beneficial?

As with any trip, it all depends on your needs and preferences. A family, for instance, can actually benefit from an all-inclusive stay. During a holiday, especially if you are travelling with children, you want to enjoy the relaxation and carefreeness of your stay to the fullest, and with all-inclusive options, you can indulge in sports activities (a plus to be selected pre-departure), buffets and unlimited extras (water, soft drinks, snacks...), to avoid any surprises of surcharges when you return home.

For couples or more relaxed people, however, all-inclusive is not the best choice. Those who want to visit restaurants and local shops, or who simply like quieter, not too crowded places, have a completely different idea of a holiday from all-inclusive stays.

  • My stopover involves a stopover of several hours. What should I do to pass the time at the airport?

Before deciding what to do, it is essential to calculate timing and timing perfectly. Rule number 1: if your stopover is no more than four hours, stay where you are. When you return to the airport, in addition to the time spent outside, you have to take into account possible heavy traffic, security checks and even immigration if you have a visa. Many international airports offer really interesting activities to keep you busy during your waiting time: at Amsterdam Schiphol you can visit museums and exhibitions, in Munich you can go ice-skating, at London Heathrow, Narita and Beijing in Japan you can rent a room in a mini-hotel and in Singapore you can watch movies and walk along nature trails.

If, on the other hand, you have made sure you have enough time to get out and explore the city you are in, choose a specific neighbourhood and ask the staff what means of transport are available to reach your destination.

  • When should I consider having insurance on my trip?

Usually, when trips exceed €5,000, it would be advisable to take out insurance to avoid losing the full value of the trip should something happen. Another factor is health insurance. Especially if you suffer from illnesses that could cause the cancellation of your stay, in this case it could be a smart investment to consider.
